1:51pm Matt pushed the plastic goggles over his eyes and started the chainsaw. "Be careful," Lindsay shouted and stepped back. Matt pushed the end of the saw into the wood wall. He drew it around the lump, going two feet away from it on all sides, being extremely careful not to get too close. He saw was two feet from the ground on the other side of the lump when the wall gave way. Peter's form fell to the ground, facefirst. Dust flew everywhere, and Andrew rushed to his friend's side. He turned him over, rested Peter's head on his lap, and whispered his name over and over. "Peter? Peter? Peter... Peter, Peter, Peter," he whispered impatiently. Blood started flowing from Peter's nose, and Lindsay left to get a towel. Peter slowly opened his eyes, looked up at Andrew and groaned deep in his throat. It came out as a thin whine, to everyone's displeasure. Lindsay came back soon after, bringing some of Andrew's white towels with her. "Sorry, I couldn't find any red ones," she apologized while giving the towels to Anton. Anton bent down to Peter's side, looking intently at his nose. "It's broken all right, must have been from when he fell from... the wall," Anton still didn't seem to believe that his friend and teammate had literally come out of the wall. "Let's move him to the lab." Matt took over at Peter's head, gently lifting his shoulders as not to drop him. Andrew lifted his friend's feet, being even more careful than Matt not to drop Peter. They took him out of the house and into the med room in the Mobile Lab, setting him gently down in the brown leather chair. Anton ushered everyone out of the room so that he could fix Peter's nose. "I hope he's okay." Andrew was worried, enough to arouse suspicion from Lindsay and Matt. They eyed him cautiously and left to go outside.
Anton emerged from the med room almost half an hour later. Matt and Lindsay were the only ones around; Claire had gone with Andrew to clean up the mess in the house. "How is he?" Lindsay was more concerned than ever for her teammate. "I gave him sedatives for now. He was in so much pain, I had to give him something." Anton paused before telling them the rest. "His left leg is broken, his nose is broken from falling on the floor, and he has a mysterious deep cut on his left shoulder." Matt and Lindsay gasped and looked down at the ground. They were shocked to find out the extent of his injuries, seeing he had disappeared not long ago, into a wall. "We'll have to get him to a hospital so they can fix his leg. I don't have the equipment here," Anton added. Matt went to the conference room to call an ambulance. "Don't rush, he's under sedatives," he told the operator. He hung up his cell phone and went to see Peter in the med room. |
